Company Description:
Established in 1984, LakeFlato Architects has gained national recognition for architecture that is rooted to its place and successfully merges with the landscape.
In collaboration with our clients, LakeFlato creates buildings that are tactile and modern, environmentally responsible and authentic, artful and crafted.
LakeFlato has received wide critical acclaim. The American Institute of Architects selected LakeFlato as the Firm of the Year in 2004, and the firm was honored with a Texas Medal of Arts in 2009. Four LakeFlato projects have been selected as national Top Ten Green Projects by the AIA Committee on the Environment (two in 2006, 2007 and 2009). In all, LakeFlato's work has been recognized with 43 national awards (including the AIA's Honor Award in 1992, 1997, 1999 and 2007) and 50 state awards.
LakeFlato's work has also been featured in 70 books (including two monographs) and 116 national publications.
LakeFlato has a staff of 57, including 23 registered architects, 15 LEED accredited professionals and a sustainability coordinator. Two principals and six partners lead project teams from visioning through occupancy. Comprehensive and inclusive design reviews generate fresh ideas and firm-wide ownership of the work. A collaborative process with clients, other architects, engineers, specialty consultants, and within the office creates a process that invites ideas to flourish.
